An essential addition to any 4x4 that ventures offroad. 4WD recovery kits range from basic starter kits, right through to complete recovery and winch kits.
Basic Recovery Kits - Starter Packs
Basic kits are great for the new or casual four wheel driver. Whether you head down to the beach for a spot of fishing, or venture out with the family or mates for a spot of camping, a basic kit is essential. Basic Recovery Kits normally include a carry bag for storing all your gear, a snatch strap, pair of gloves and a few rated shackles. This is enough to get most vehicles out of bother in light conditions, as long as another 4x4 is on hand to assist. Another handy addition to a basic kit is a shovel (fold-up or standard) to help clear the path. This is the base style kit that most 4WD Clubs require you to have on board to attend any club trip. Be sure you also have proper recovery points on your 4x4 before venturing out else you could put yourself and others in danger.
Advanced and Heavy Duty Recovery Kits
Heavy Duty and advanced 4WD Recovery Kits take off from where the basic kits finish. Commonly they'll include all the gear you'd find in a basic kit, as well as a winch extension strap, snatch block and a tree trunk protectors. Additional items including joining straps, equalizer straps, and tie downs. Heavy Duty versions commonly beef up the ratings on all the gear, so rather than 3.2T rated shackles, they'll be 4.7T rated, and the same goes with the straps.
